Sion es una ciudad y comuna del oeste/suroeste de Suiza, capital del cantón del Valais y del distrito de Sion. Cuenta con una población aproximada de 35.500 habitantes en 2018.
La ciudad se encuentra situada en el valle del río Ródano y está rodeada por los Alpes valesanos al sur y por los Alpes berneses al norte. La comuna limita al norte con las comunas de Savièse, Grimisuat y Ayent, al este con Saint-Léonard y Grône, al sur con Mont-Noble, Vex, Les Agettes, Salins y Nendaz, y al oeste con Conthey.
