La ciudad de Herzogenrath es una ciudad media perteneciente a la región en la ciudad de Aachen, Renania del Norte-Westfalia. Se formó en 1972 a partir de la fusión de la ciudad de Herzogenrath con las localidades de Kohlscheid y Merkstein y forma, junto con la ciudad neerlandesa de Kerkrade, la simbólica ciudad gemela Eurode. Durante siglos, la minería caracterizó a la ciudad.
