El lago se encuentra en el municipio de Bad Saarow en el distrito de Oder-Spree en Brandeburgo, a unos 2,5 kilómetros al noreste del lago Scharmützelsee. Tiene una superficie de 23 ha y una profundidad media de 2,3 metros. Su cuenca tiene un tamaño de 3,5 km². La única afluencia superficial es el desagüe del lago Petersdorf. El lago tiene aproximadamente 1100 metros de largo y un ancho máximo de 300 metros, desde el suroeste hasta el noreste. Su costa noroeste está marcada por el pueblo de Petersdorf y la carretera estatal L 35, que discurre paralela a la costa, en cuyo trazado se rellenó una parte del lago. Al sureste hay un bosque.
El lago Petersdorf es eutrófico. La concentración de fosfatos fue en promedio en 2003 de 49,6 µg/l. La visibilidad subacuática fue de 70 cm. En el lago habitan anguilas, perca, carpas, doradas, rutilos, tencas y lucios.
