Las reglas son increíblemente simples, ya que el Boßeln es como el bolos o la petanca en la calle. Dos equipos lanzan alternativamente la bola de Boßeln a lo largo de la pista, siendo el equipo rezagado el que realiza el primer lanzamiento. El lanzamiento se realiza siempre desde el lugar donde ha quedado la bola de Boßeln. El equipo que recorre la distancia con menos lanzamientos gana.
