En su mayor parte, el sendero transcurre por caminos forestales y agrícolas bien pavimentados. Sin embargo, la subida justo después de comenzar el Hambergweg hacia Heinemannshöhe no está pavimentada y representa un gran desafío que solo se puede superar en condiciones de clima seco y estable. Después de las lluvias y generalmente en la temporada húmeda y fría, el sendero es prácticamente intransitable y solo debe ser abordado por exploradores de la naturaleza en buena forma y experimentados. En términos de contenido, el sendero circular ofrece un contraste educativo entre bosques de hoja caduca y de coníferas, además de paneles informativos del sendero geológico de Salzgitter-Bad que transcurre paralelamente en algunos tramos, y una impresionante vista de la antigua mina a cielo abierto Finkenkuhle, que se ha llenado de agua.
