El castillo de Prades estaba en el extremo noroeste de la población de Prades. Actualmente queda poca cosa. Fue abandonado y restó repartido entre varias casas lo que ahora dificulta mucho su interpretación. El elemento del conjunto castral mejor conservado ha sido la capilla o iglesia de Sant Miquel del castillo de Prades, últimamente restaurada. Prades está en el centro de las montañas del mismo nombre, en una meseta en el límite con La Conca de Barberà, L'Alt Camp y El Priorat.
