El desaparecido Real Alcázar de Madrid fue un palacio real de la monarquía Hispánica hasta 1734, año en que fue destruido por un incendio de incierto origen. Estuvo situado en el solar donde actualmente se erige el Palacio Real de Madrid . Construido como fortaleza musulmana en el siglo IX, el edificio fue ampliándose y mejorándose con el paso de los siglos, especialmente a partir del siglo XVI cuando se convirtió en palacio real de acuerdo a la elección de Madrid como capital del Imperio español. Pese a ello, esta gran construcción siguió conservando su primitiva denominación de alcázar.
