Después de una catastrófica inundación en 1957 que devastó la ciudad de Valencia, el río Turia se dividió en dos en los límites occidentales de la ciudad. El antiguo lecho del río es ahora un verde parque hundido que permite a los ciclistas y peatones atravesar gran parte de la ciudad sin el uso de carreteras. El parque, llamado el "Jardín del Turia" (Jardí del Túria / Jardín del Turia) cuenta con numerosos estanques, caminos, fuentes, flores, campos de fútbol, cafés, obras de arte, paredes de escalada, una pista de atletismo, un jardín zen y más. Los numerosos puentes aéreos transportan tráfico a través del parque.
