La Porte du Bas (Puerta Baja) conduce al centro de la ciudad de Mutzig, situada en la ruta del vino de Alsacia, a unos 30 km de Estrasburgo
Levantada en 1559, la Porte du Bas (Untertor) sigue siendo uno de los restos más notables de las fortificaciones medievales de la ciudad. Un Saint-Maurice, el escudo de la ciudad, pintado en 1895, adorna la cara este. Hasta 1775, estuvo precedida por una obra avanzada (barbacana) que fue sustituida por un arco monumental demolido en 1894.

Mutzig fue una ciudad en la Edad Media y allí se administraba justicia. Se celebraron juicios por brujería e infanticidio, que se pueden encontrar en los archivos de la ciudad.
