Bríndisi[3] es un comune y ciudad italiana, capital de la provincia homónima, en la región de Apulia. Cuenta con una población de 88 667 habitantes. Fue capital en funciones del Reino de Italia entre septiembre de 1943 y febrero de 1944.
Situada en la llanura salentina a orillas del mar Adriático, tiene un magnífico puerto natural, una desembocadura que se interna en la costa, importante entre otras cosas por las conexiones con Grecia, Turquía y Albania. El tráfico mercantil concierne carbón, aceite combustible, gas natural, productos químicos. En el puerto interno están activas, en el seno de Levante, once amarras, para un desarrollo de 1925 m con profundidades desde 8,5 a 10 m. El puerto medio está principalmente destinado a las actividades comerciales.
