Una vez estuvo en el Bellamypark, ahora la estatua de Frans Naerebout -el padre fundador del servicio de pilotaje de Vlissingen- se encuentra en la Boulevard De Ruyter.
Naerebout (1748-1818) tenía como piloto de la VOC la tarea de guiar los barcos de forma segura dentro y fuera de la desembocadura del Escalda. Fue el mismo Frans Naerebout quien en julio de 1779 logró rescatar a más de 80 tripulantes de un barco de Indias Orientales que se hundía, 'De Woestduyn'. En 1788, otro barco, el 'Zuiderburg', perdió su timón mientras se dirigía a China y tenía a 400 personas a bordo. Este barco también corría el riesgo de hundirse y permaneció a la deriva durante seis días entre los icebergs. Nuevamente, Naerebout logró llegar a este barco y lo llevó de forma segura a Plymouth, Inglaterra, utilizando diversas artimañas. Así que, con razón, un héroe de Vlissingen...
