La villa fue diseñada en 1915 por el arquitecto J.J. Brandes y fue construida por encargo del antiguo viajero de las Indias Gerardus Antonius van Putten.
La villa está construida en un estilo tradicional de casa de campo inglesa, lo que se puede ver tanto en la majestuosa villa como en el
jardín circundante.
