El Almirante Krom Luang Chumphon Khet Udomsak (1880-1923) es considerado el padre de la Marina Real de Tailandia. Fue el 28º hijo del Rey Rama V y mostró un temprano interés y capacidad en asuntos náuticos. Pasó seis años en el Reino Unido estudiando en la Academia Naval Real. A su regreso a Siam ocupó una serie de puestos importantes en la marina real tailandesa. Se le recuerda por modernizar la marina y crear un cuerpo de oficiales profesional. Se convirtió en el Comandante de la Marina en 1922. Además de sus estudios navales, el Príncipe también es conocido como un doctor herbal, un boxeador y un pintor artístico. Es recordado con cariño en Tailandia. El aniversario de su muerte, el 19 de mayo, es el Día de la Marina Real de Tailandia. También es conocido como el Almirante Príncipe Abhakara Kiartivongse.
