Ancienne église de pèlerinage avec tour romane et chœur gothique. Statuaire gothique.
La construction de l'église de Winksele remonte au 12ème siècle. La tour carrée en grès et la nef romane datent de cette période. Le grand choeur gothique a été ajouté à la fin du 13ème siècle.
Au 17ème siècle, le bâtiment a été entièrement rénové: la nef a reçu une voûte, des arcs gothiques et des fenêtres en arc brisé. Le bas-côté sud a été démoli et au nord fut ajouté un transept. Une sacristie et un jubé avec orgue ont été rajoutés également à la fin du 18ème siècle.
Winksele était un lieu de pèlerinage très connu: les malades mentaux venaient implorer la guérison à la belle statue polychrome de Notre-Dame (c. 1400). A côté de l'église se trouvait une maison où les pèlerins ont été recueillis et soignés. Le bâtiment a ensuite été démoli et les pierres ont été utilisées pour élever le mur du cimetière.
