Le houblon et la production de bière sont inextricablement liés. À cet endroit se trouvait autrefois la brasserie Goossens. La brasserie existait certainement déjà au 18ème siècle et est restée active jusqu'en 1928. Le dernier brasseur, Camille Goossens, était à la fois brasseur et maire du village.
Lors de la Première Guerre mondiale, l'occupant allemand a confiscé le cuivre de la brasserie, y compris les cuves de brassage. Après un bref redémarrage, la production a été définitivement arrêtée. À partir de 2017, l'endroit a été transformé en Hof Den Tuitelaar.
