La première mention de Boécourt date de 1141, sous le nom de Biestingen, avec la fondation du couvent de Bellelay auquel la paroisse de Boécourt fut donnée.
Les localités sont apparues bien plus tard, sous la forme de petits bourgs agricoles. On relevait toutefois la présence de quelques moulins.
