Enclave britannique en Forêt de Retz, ce cimetière abrite les restes des militaires tombés dans cette forêt le 1er septembre 1914 comme le rappelle une inscription gravée en anglais et en français : "Le terrain de ce cimetière a été concédé gratuitement par la nation française comme lieu de sépulture perpétuelle des héros des armées alliées tombés pendant la Grande Guerre de 1914-1918 et honorés ici". Une autre inscription, en anglais cette fois, sur une plaque de métal, le confirme : "Ce cimetière a été construit et est entretenu par la Commission des tombes de guerre du Commonwealth".
