Richmond est une ville du Yorkshire du Nord en Angleterre, sur les bords de la rivière Swale. Elle constitue le chef-lieu du district de Richmondshire. Sa population est de 8 970 habitants.
Le nom de Richmond vient du français « riche mont », et fut le nom donné au château que construisit le Breton Alain le Roux, lord de Richmond, en 1071, sur les terres qu'il avait reçues de Guillaume le Conquérant à la suite de la conquête normande de l'Angleterre. Le château donna ensuite son nom à la ville.
