Important centre industriel , la ville, avec ses 15 504 habitants, a beaucoup de banlieusards à Dublin aussi, en raison de la proximité de la cité . Elle est située sur les fleuves de la Liffey de la Rye, et du Royal Canal, un canal entre le harbor de Dublin et la Shannon.
