Le 28 avril 1992, le maire de l'époque J. Smit a dévoilé ce monument en compagnie de M. Herman Meijerink, en mémoire des Juifs de Losser qui ne sont pas revenus des camps de la mort. Le monument a été réalisé par l'artiste plasticienne d'Oldenzaal Antoinette Ruiter. L'ancien échevin Herman Meijerink et sa femme Marie ont été les initiateurs de la création du monument. Les Juifs de Losser formaient un petit groupe en réalité oublié, qui, grâce à l'initiative de M. et Mme Meijerink, restera ainsi, espérons-le pour toujours, dans notre mémoire.
