La chiesa di San Leonardo a Zoutleeuw (secoli XIII - XVI) fu costruita per sostituire una cappella romanica che qui nel 1125 fu eretta da benedettini di Vlierbeek. La maggior parte è stata realizzata in stile gotico, le parti più antiche sono romaniche (finestra nella facciata ovest). Le due torri sono collegate tra loro tramite una galleria sopra la navata centrale.
Il grazioso campanile incrociato contiene un carillon con 24 campane. Questa chiesa con le sue torri è parte del Patrimonio mondiale dell'UNESCO dal 1999.
La chiesa sfuggì all'iconoclastia. Superò quasi indenne anche la rivoluzione francese, poiché tre canonici prestarono giuramento di fedeltà al regime francese. È anche chiamata la reliquia di Brabante.
