L'ippodromo di Gaverbeek è conosciuto per il Waregem Koerse. La gara si svolge ogni anno il martedì dopo l'ultimo weekend di agosto. La corsa esiste dal 1848 e comprende otto corse, sia al trotto che al galoppo.
Nelle corse al galoppo ci sono anche salti su ostacoli, dei quali il Berm irlandese e il salto sopra il Gaverbeek sono gli ostacoli più famosi e temuti. Recentemente sono stati apportati cambiamenti agli ostacoli per renderli più a misura di animale.
Il culmine della corsa, il Grande Steeple Chase delle Fiandre, è la più grande corsa delle Fiandre.
