As è un comune e una località della provincia belga di Limburgo e fa parte del distretto giudiziario di Bree e del distretto elettorale di Genk. Il comune conta circa 8000 abitanti, chiamati Assenaren. Nel 1901, ad As fu trovata la prima miniera di carbone del Limburgo da André Dumont. Da qui iniziò l'industrializzazione dalla quale soprattutto i comuni circostanti trassero vantaggio. Oggigiorno, As è un villaggio residenziale immerso tra brughiere e boschi al confine tra i Kempen e il Maasland.
