Nel medioevo, Geest e la sua dipendenza Gérompont furono unite nel villaggio di Geest-Gérompont. Questo divenne un comune autonomo alla fine dell'ancien régime. Nel 1822, il comune fu nuovamente soppresso e unito a Petit-Rosière per formare Geest-Gérompont-Petit-Rosière. Questo comune si fuserà nel 1971 con Bomal e Mont-Saint-André e il comune risultante prese semplicemente il nome di Gérompont. Il comune risultante cessò di esistere nel 1977 e divenne parte di Ramillies.
