Ternat è un luogo e comune nella provincia belga del Brabant Fiammingo. Il comune si trova nel Pajottenland e conta oltre 15.481 abitanti. Il comune è già citato in antichi scritti con i nomi: Nath, Le Natte, Ternath. Il toponimo ci racconta qualcosa sulla storia della sua origine: un nucleo abitativo su suolo umido o "ter natte". Il nome Ternat è spesso associato al significato di bagnato o umido, ma questo è piuttosto semplicistico.
