Denderhoutem è un villaggio nella provincia belga dell'Oost-Vlaanderen ed è una frazione del comune di Haaltert. Fino al 1977 era un comune autonomo, dopodiché è stato incorporato nel comune fusione di Haaltert. Il luogo si trova nella regione del Dender.
Il luogo è citato in una vecchia ordinanza dell'undicesimo secolo come Holthem, insieme al luogo Herlinkhove, un luogo che fino al 1807 era un villaggio autonomo. Nel quindicesimo secolo appare il nome Tenrehoutem, che significava qualcosa come luogo boschivo presso il Dender. Un soprannome noto per gli abitanti di Denderhoutem è quello di contadini di torba; nel 1830 il Potter segnala un terreno torboso di 5 ettari presso il luogo.
