Questo luogo si è formato negli anni '60 quando, per la costruzione della N60, il paesaggio originale delle paludi ha dovuto lasciare spazio a uno stagno di 40 ha, incluso un'isola disabitata. Secondo la leggenda, durante i lavori un camion si è bloccato qui e giace ancora sul fondo della cava.
Oltre alle attività ricreative che qui si sono sviluppate da allora, è nato un prezioso biotopo naturale. Specialmente in inverno, si può trovare una enorme popolazione di uccelli nelle lagune. Questo luogo è stato visitato più di 10.000 anni fa da cacciatori-raccoglitori e anche i primi agricoltori delle nostre aree lasciavano qui pascolare il loro bestiame.
Se nel frattempo cominci a sentirti un po' giù, il Den Dronk può offrire conforto. Questa taverna fa parte di The Outsider, un'organizzazione che organizza attività all'aperto per gruppi, scuole e associazioni.
