Il forte è stato costruito nel 1907-1908 ed era già sotto pesante fuoco tedesco nel 1914. Il 3 ottobre 1914 il forte fu occupato dai tedeschi. Nel 1939-1940 fu installata una protezione anticarro e il forte divenne parte della nuova linea Koningshooikt-Waver (linea KW).
Nel forte hanno trovato casa molte varietà di pipistrelli. Le specie più comuni sono il pipistrello a corna, il pipistrello dei muricidi, il pipistrello d'acqua, il pipistrello frangia, il pipistrello di Brandt e il pipistrello barbuto. Il dominio è una Zona di Protezione Speciale Europea.
