Nel 1525 viene eretto il Vecchio Palazzo dei Giudici per l'amministrazione del Comune di Maldegem. I compiti aumentano e nel 1653 il Palazzo dei Giudici ottiene un rinforzo dal Vecchio Municipio. Nel corso dei secoli gli edifici hanno avuto diverse funzioni: palazzo dei giurati con sala di consiglio, locanda, caffè, municipio, accademia di disegno, biblioteca, ... L'incontro è sempre il filo conduttore. Entrambi gli edifici sono monumenti protetti.
