Marquartstein è un comune nel distretto di Traunstein in Alta Baviera. L'omonimo capoluogo è sede dell'amministrazione comunale e della comunità amministrativa di Marquartstein. Il comune viene visitato dai turisti in tutte le stagioni.
Marquartstein si trova nella Chiemgau a circa dieci chilometri a sud del Chiemsee nella valle del Tiroler Achen. Il fiume divide il paese in due parti. A est si trova il nucleo storico di Alt-Marquartstein e il castello di Marquartstein, mentre dall'altra parte del fiume si trovano la chiesa parrocchiale di Heiligblut, il municipio e la maggior parte delle aree residenziali. Le due frazioni sono collegate da due ponti.
