É attraversata dal torrente chiamato "Bolldammbach" a Enger e ha una superficie di 55 ettari, di cui circa la metà è di proprietà statale. La zona umida e i suoi spazi verdi vengono frequentemente inondati su larga scala. La flora protettiva riguarda i giunchi, i boschetti, i prati e i pascoli, le piccole acque, le praterie alte, i fossati, le zone di canne e le aree di siepi presenti. Le aree prative offrono un habitat prezioso a numerosi uccelli di prato e limicoli, anfibi, libellule e farfalle. La Brughiera ha un significato eccezionale per l'avifauna della regione Ravensberger.
