San Lorenzo de El Escorial è un comune spagnolo di 18.088 abitanti situato nella comunità autonoma di Madrid, all'interno della comarca di Cuenca del Guadarrama.È famoso soprattutto per la presenza del convento omonimo, fatto costruire dal re Filippo II e da lui utilizzato come residenza reale. Solo raramente il Re si spostava a Madrid. Vi si trovano numerose opere pittoriche di rilievo e, nella cripta, le sepolture dei re di Spagna, compreso Carlo V.
