Guadalest si trova a circa mezz'ora a tre quarti d'ora di auto dalle località balneari della Costa Blanca come Calpe, Moraira, Altea e Benidorm. Il villaggio, che ha quasi mille anni, è interamente situato attorno al castello. Il castello, semplicemente chiamato El Castell de Guadalest, è costruito in cima a una roccia. Degni di nota, oltre al castello, sono la pittoresca piazza del mercato, il municipio e la chiesa in stile barocco, due musei e la splendida vista sul lago artificiale.
