Il museo militare si trova in Plaza de España tra la Puerta de Aragón e la Torre Nord.

È l'erede di gran parte delle collezioni dell'antica Maestranza de Artillería di Siviglia, il cui Memoriale del 1897 fa riferimento ad una "sala modello", considerata il germe del primo museo di artiglieria della città di Siviglia. Nel corso del tempo, le collezioni si sono ampliate fino a comprendere le collezioni della Maestranza, quelle del dipartimento pirotecnico militare e delle sue scuole di addestramento, della Fabbrica Reale di Artiglieria e quelle delle unità militari sbandate, principalmente provenienti da Plaza de Sevilla.

Il museo ha aperto i battenti il 18 dicembre 1992 ed è stato ristrutturato nel 2000 per conferirgli le strutture oggi visitabili. Il restauro ha permesso di recuperare la concezione architettonica originale del progettista del complesso di Plaza de España, Aníbal González.
