Blaise Pascal nacque a Clermont-Ferrand il 19 giugno 1623. Perse sua madre, Antoinette Begon, all'età di tre anni. Suo padre, Étienne Pascal (1588–1651), che aveva anche un interesse per la scienza e la matematica, era un giudice locale e membro della "Noblesse de Robe". È famoso per molte cose, una delle quali è il triangolo di Pascal. Ogni numero è la somma dei due direttamente sopra di esso. Il triangolo dimostra molte proprietà matematiche oltre a mostrare i coefficienti binomiali (guarda il video).
