La Chatte Pendue culmina a 899 m. Un tavolo di orientamento del Vosges Club di Strasburgo offre una vista superba sul massiccio del Champ du Feu, sul Climont, sul Donon e, con il bel tempo, sulla Foresta Nera... Ma l'originalità del luogo sta soprattutto nel suo nome insolito, che è stato oggetto di molte interpretazioni. In passato era chiamata "Pirre hhatte pendaïe", un'alta pietra pendente. La pronuncia gutturale della "H" o errori di trascrizione da parte dei geometri avrebbero trasformato hhatte in chatte.
