Costruito nel 1991, il Palais des Sports di Pau rimane una delle sedi più belle e popolari per tutte le squadre nazionali di basket, pallamano e pallavolo, sia maschili che femminili.
L'Elan Béarnais Pau Lacq Orthez, sempre ai vertici del basket francese, è il club residente. Dall'estate 2018, l'agglomerato di Pau Béarn Pyrénées e l'Elan Béarnais hanno investito insieme in un nuovo sistema di illuminazione che trasforma le partite in uno spettacolo. Un vero e proprio spettacolo degno del pubblico di Pau, il migliore di Francia. Il sistema audio, notevolmente migliorato, fa sì che il Palais sia sempre all'avanguardia.
