Canale Monterano è un comune italiano di 4 183 abitanti della città metropolitana di Roma Capitale nel Lazio. Canale Monterano è il nuovo borgo di Monterano, oggi città fantasma.
L'abitato da cui ha avuto origine Canale è sorto, attorno alla metà del XVI secolo, per opera di braccianti e taglialegna provenienti dalla Toscana e dall’Umbria, chiamati a disboscare le fitte macchie che ricoprivano il territorio. Le loro prime abitazioni furono semplici capanne, costruite ai piedi del Monte Sassano.
