Molti conoscono il Windraak della strada che lo attraversa. Pochi sanno che dietro di esso si nasconde un'area naturale rurale, al confine tra il Sud-Limburgo, tra l'altopiano di Doenrade e la valle del Geleenbeek.
È un piccolo paradiso per le passeggiate con moltissimi sentieri, anche per i ciclisti fuoristrada. I sentieri più noti sono il Pieterpad e il Pelgrimspad. Camminando si attraversano boschi, strade scavate e si passa accanto a pozze per rane e pascoli con croci di campagna dove vivono tassi e piante di grano.
