Gasselte è un comune nel comune di Aa en Hunze nella provincia olandese di Drenthe, a metà strada tra i villaggi di Gieten e Borger, situato sulla Hondsrug. Il villaggio ha 1.900 abitanti. Fino alla riorganizzazione comunale del 1 gennaio 1998, il villaggio era il capoluogo del comune omonimo.
Sebbene siano state trovate tracce di insediamenti intorno a Gasselte risalenti alla preistoria, all'età del bronzo e all'età del ferro, il primo insediamento trovato in questa regione risale al periodo del IX al XII secolo. Trofeo di collane di perline, frammenti di un fibula ad anello e un bracciale, trovati nel 1877 durante l'aratura dei campi del signor Sanders a Gasselte, indicano un insediamento nel VI e VII secolo.
