Gehlweiler is een plaats in de Duitse deelstaat Rijnland-Palts, en maakt deel uit van de Rhein-Hunsrück-Kreis.
Gehlweiler telt 220 inwoners.
Gehlweiler speelde naast Woppenroth en andere dorpjes in de Hunsrück een belangrijke rol in de Heimat-filmcyclus van Edgar Reitz. Zowel het eerste deel van de cyclus, Heimat - Eine deutsche Chronik, dat bestond uit elf afleveringen en een totale lengte had van 924 minuten, als het derde deel van de cyclus, Chronik einer Zeitenwende, speelde zich af in het fictieve dorp "Schabbach" in de Hunsrück. De dorpen vormden het decor waartegen de kroniek van een familie gedurende de gehele twintigste eeuw zich afspeelde.
