De Werneststraße is een qua verkeer zeer rustige geasfalteerde weg vanuit het dorpje Maisach naar de L92. Het biedt hiermee een prachtig alternatief voor de beklimming van de Zuflucht via de doorgaande weg L92 Oppenau - Zuflucht. Een voordeel is ook dat deze weg onderin door een open dal gaat en pas later de bossen induikt, terwijl de L92 vrijwel continu door de bossen gaat.
De laatste 400 meter van deze weg, voordat die aansluit op de L92, zijn vrij steil en het asfalt van dit stukje lijkt een mix van beton en asfalt te zijn (ruw wegdek maar goed befietsbaar). Update: dit laatste stukje is nieuw geasfalteerd in 2018.
