Newenden is het kleinste dorp in Kent, en ook het eerste dorp dat je tegenkomt in Kent, als je via de 18de-eeuwse brug over de rivier Rother Kent binnen rijdt. De haven, de markt en zestien herbergen waren een belangrijk onderdeel van de regionale economie.
