Sinds 1255 staat er al een kerk in Greystoke. De kerk was op dat moment zelfs rijkelijk bedeeld. Dit kwam omdat de adel persoonlijk belang had in hun parochiekerk. De 14e Baron van Greystoke, die het eerste Greystoke Castle bouwde, en wiens graf in het koor ligt, was gul in zijn giften, waardoor na zijn dood de kerk gemakkelijk kon worden voortgezet.
Met het geld werden 3 beuken gebouwd, een op elke zijde van het schip, met geschilderde eiken schermen. Tijdens de Reformatie werden deze weer verwijderd, waardoor een zeer groot schip ontstond. De toren werd door de dorpsbewoners als verdedigingstoren gebruikt als toevluchtsoord tegen de plunderende Schotten.
De kerk is beroemd om zijn gebrandschilderde ramen.
