Van Morrison woonde hier als enig kind van 1945 tot 1961. Zijn vader George was elektricien op een scheepswerf, zijn moeder Violet was in haar jonge jaren tapdanseres en zangeres geweest. De buurt loopt als een rode draad door zijn hele oeuvre. Al in zijn allereerste hit 'Brown eyed girl' zingt hij over The Hollow, het overwoekerd terrein achter de huizen, de geheime plek van de eerste aanrakingen. Verderop ligt ook Orange field en voor alles Cyprus Avenue, de hogergelegen laan met villa's waar het eenzelvige arbeiderskind verlangend naar opkijkt. Daar waar ook 'Madame George jumps up and says: "Hey love/yo forgot your gloves, and/ the love that love the love..."
