De Santa Maria della Vittoria is voornamelijk bekend omwille van de rijke graftombe van kardinaal Federico Corner (of Cornaro). Hij behoorde tot die steenrijke Venetiaanse familie die zelf vier doges afleverde. Zijn link met Rome kwam doordat hij lid was van het pauselijk kiescollege en titelhouder van de Santa Maria in Trastevere. Hij was eveneens bisschop van Albano, een rijk bisdom ten zuiden van Rome.
De graftombe stelt het beeld van de Heilige Theresia van Avilla voor, op het ogenblik dat ze getroffen wordt door pijl van een engel, gezonden door god. Het tafereel wordt vanuit de loges gadegeslagen door figuren uit de familie Corner. Het geheel is een meesterwerk van Bernini.
