De kathedraal van Orvieto staat op de top van de Orvieto-heuvel en domineert de andere gebouwen. De Duomo gewijd aan de Hemelvaart van Maria is een van de meest grandioze werken uit de Italiaanse middeleeuwse architectuur. In gotische stijl is het vooral beroemd om zijn gevel, maar ook om de San Brizio-kapel, versierd met fresco's van Fra Angelico en Luca Signorelli.
