Pozzuoli is een van oorsprong Griekse stad aan de baai van Napels. Door zijn beschutte ligging en aangename klimaat groeide de stad al in de Griekse tijd uit tot een havenplaats van belang, en deze rol heeft Pozzuoli door de eeuwen heen behouden.
