Bolzano omvat Italië en Oostenrijk tegelijk. Het is ook de plaats waar de Dolomietenroute begint. Het oogt mediterraan. Südtirol's hoofdstad, ligt aan de zonzijde van de Alpen en dat voel je. Keert u terug uit zuidelijker Italië, dan vallen vooral de Oostenrijkse trekjes op. Niet raar als u bedenkt dat Zuid-Tirol tot 1919 bij Oostenrijk hoorde.
