De talloze Sangiovese-wijnstokken links en rechts van je produceren sinds 1716 een deel van de druiven voor de productie van de Chianti Rufina DOCG. Ook de wijngaarden van Rufina zelf, Pontassieve, Londa, Dicomano en Pelago behoren tot dit 12500ha grote wijngaardengebied.
Pomino wordt beschouwd als één van de vier belangrijkste Toscaanse zones voor de wijnbouw.
Klimmend vanuit Scopeti naar Borselli (doe je in de Croce ai Mori-Route): 12.5km à 5.2% gemiddeld met een max van 10.6%. Zo ovebrug je een hoogteverschil van 650 meter. Pomino ligt ong. halfweg de klim, waarin ook een makkelijk stukje zit, maar de laatste kilometer is dan weer pfffffffff...
